Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) provides mentoring support for young people aged 11–18 (or up to 25 for those with SEND) who may be experiencing emotional, behavioural, or contextual challenges, including risks linked to exploitation or criminal activity.
Our mentoring offers a safe, informal, and non-judgemental space where young people are matched with a mentor who can understand and respond to their individual needs. Support is typically delivered on a one-to-one basis, with both session frequency and overall duration kept flexible and tailored to the young person—usually up to 10–12 sessions. Sessions often take place within the school environment, where appropriate. All referrals are assessed and risk-screened prior to mentor allocation, and we take a holistic approach, including signposting to relevant internal and external support where beneficial. Our aim is to help young people build confidence, resilience, and positive decision-making skills that extend beyond the mentoring relationship.
Due to high demand, there is currently a waiting list. To discuss a potential referral, professionals can email mentoring@cact.org.uk with the young person’s age and current concerns, and the team will advise on next steps.
