February 2026 Newsletter

Welcome to the Young Greenwich Newsletter, where you will find information about what we have been up to this last term, what support is available, and what to look forward to.

What's been happening

A lot has happened at the start of 2026 and we hope you have been apart of it. Let's take a look at some of what has happened.

Young Greenwich Day

Charlton Athletic and Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) marked the club's Young Greenwich-themed matchday on Saturday, 17th January 2026, versus Sheffield United.

Young Greenwich participants, families, partners and CAFC home supporters came together to celebrate and speak about all the services and programmes people can get involved in across the Royal Borough of Greenwich. They had opportunities to take part in a range of fun activities, before the match, including arts & crafts, face painting, DJ decks and photography, as well as meeting club mascots Floyd and Harvey. CACT's youth engagement vehicles were also parked outside, offering additional activities for young people to get involved on their games bus.

Free Young Greenwich merchandise, including tote bags and pens, was also available throughout the afternoon. The themed matchday provided an opportunity for young people and families to find out more about the 70 activities Young Greenwich runs on a weekly basis across the Borough and meet some of the staff who are part of the wider Young Greenwich Team.

VALLEY CENTRAL YOUTH HUB - FAKEaway SESSIONS

Last term, 24 young people at Valley Central Youth Hub learnt to make their own takeaway-style food from scratch in a 12-week cooking project run by our community partner, The Bread Club.

The project encouraged young people to think about what makes a balanced meal. Before they began cooking, they laid out their ingredients on a huge Eatwell Guide, which shows the proportions of different food groups you should try to eat.

ART CLUB AT AVERY HILL YOUTH HUB

Avery Hill Youth Hub hosted a great, FREE opportunity for young people who live in the local community every Thursday across 8-weeks back in December.

Young people came from across the borough to take part in 8 different Art Hub workshops, offering diversionary and educational opportunities after school.

Over the 8-weeks, the young people learned how to create collage sketchbooks and speed portrait drawings, and much more.
