Councillor Sandra Bauer visits Hawksmoor Youth Hub

3rd Nov, 2026 13:23pm

On Thursday 29th October, Hawksmoor Youth Hub was pleased to welcome Cllr Sandra Bauer, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People & Post-16 Futures, to one of our inters sessions over the half term. These sessions allow young people to switch off from their studies, have somewhere safe to learn new skills, make new friends and feel part of something bigger in their local community.

During her visit, the councillor and her team toured the hub, seeing the wide range of activities and opportunities young people can access through the music studio, sports hall, and more. These resources encourage creativity, learning and collaboration for the young people and families who use the hub. She also interviewed some young people and spoke with staff about why they like Greenwich, what the youth service offers them and how they think Greenwich will look in 2050.

The session itself was packed with meaningful activities. Young people participated in online safety workshops, enjoyed fun sport-based activities and shared a nutritious, freshly prepared meal cooked by our dedicated staff. A highlight of the evening was seeing Cllr Sandra Bauer join in on shooting some hoops with some young people.

All of our sessions at all of our hubs aim to create a safe, inclusive and supportive environment for participants and their families. Each session encourages young people to bond, learn and have fun together while also providing access to key services and resources.

We are incredibly grateful to Cllr Sandra Bauer and her team for taking the time to visit and engage with the community. Their support highlights the importance of these sessions and the impact they have on young people and families across the borough.
