JK Performing Arts is proud to report the successful delivery of our recent programme in preparation for our big summer showcase, You Can’t Stop the Beat. Over the course of the project, we have engaged 52 children in a total of 50 high-quality sessions across acting, musical theatre, dance, and LAMDA classes. These sessions have not only helped the children prepare for a live performance but also supported their personal and social development in a fun and inclusive environment.
A key focus of this programme has been inclusion and accessibility. We were delighted to work with 13 children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), all of whom have made significant progress. Through tailored support and a nurturing approach, these children have grown in confidence and demonstrated major improvements in communication, self-expression, and participation.
Across the sessions, children have developed a wide range of valuable life skills. These include teamwork, staying active and healthy through regular dance and movement, building friendships, and developing self-confidence both on and off stage. The inclusive and supportive atmosphere has enabled every child to feel valued and capable, regardless of ability or experience.
The programme culminated in a vibrant live performance of You Can’t Stop the Beat, held at The Bob Hope Theatre. The show was attended by 203 members of the local community, including families, friends, and supporters. The energy, talent, and hard work displayed by all the children were met with overwhelming praise from the audience, many of whom expressed how deeply moved and impressed they were by the performances.
This project has not only delivered a high-quality artistic experience for participants and audiences but also fostered lasting memories, community connection, and personal growth for all involved. We are incredibly proud of what our young performers have achieved and are so grateful for the continued support of our local community.
We would like to thank Young Greenwich for supporting this project, as it has really allowed us to concentrate on the children and give them the very best experience.
