On Friday, 12th September, Hawksmoor Youth Hub invited members of the community in Thamesmead together, encouraging families and local people to reconnect after the school summer holidays, strengthening the relationships and support networks ready for the new academic year.
More than 110 people attended this event, bringing children and families together to share stories and experiences about their summer holidays and reconnect those friendships through a range of fun and exciting activities, such as a bouncy castle, gladiator duelling and arts and crafts workshops, along with an offering of food and drinks, making sure no one leaves hungry, whilst making sure everyone is ready and set for the start of their next school year.
Some families were given support with CACT bursaries to help pay for school uniforms and resources, while other parents and children had the opportunity to meet and arrange after-school care, helping one another out with work commitments or other appointments.

The revamp of Hawksmoor Youth Hub continues to be a huge success, allowing the whole hub to be used and manageable, with parts of the hub being louder than others, but having quieter areas for those who need it.
Having these types of events allows the staff at Hawksmoor to build relations with others, promoting Young Greenwich and the services we offer across the borough, aiming to support young people and their families to thrive and reach their full potential, whilst living a happy and active lifestyle.
