Young Health Champions - 2025

19th Dec, 2025 10:46am

This summer, 12 young people signed up to become Youth Health Champions, an accredited course delivered across 4 days in partnership with the Public Health Officer, Paul, at the Royal Borough of Greenwich by the Royal Social of Public Health (RSPH).

The young people, aged 14+, all from diverse backgrounds, have different experiences and stories to tell as to why they signed up to the programme.  Started the RSPH Level 2 certificate for Young Health Champions, consisting of four different modules, which were delivered across 2 hours and is the equivalent of a GCSE qualification.

Topics covered:

·      Health Improvement

·      Research about health improvement services

·      Delivering a health improvement message

·      A specialist module to deepen their understanding of a specific aspect of health, such as alcohol misuse, physical activity, healthy weight and healthy eating, sexual health, and emotional wellbeing. - Each group selected a topic they felt passionate about and produced a campaign to inform others.

Throughout their time on the course, they developed their confidence, gained more knowledge and information in order to support their own health and raise awareness through becoming Health Champion & Ambassadors for the future generations. Through sharing this information with other young people and helping signpost them to extra support and other partner organisations.

Upon completion of the course, Claire (Hawksmoor Unit Manager) hosted an event, inviting the young people’s parents/carers and family members to celebrate the achievement and encourage them to keep up their hard work.

We wanted to just thank all the young people for taking part and having the dedication to complete the course. At the end, they all come together as a Team to become Health Champions and are excellent role models to others.
