Metro Judo Club, Mayors visit

On Saturday 3rd of September, Metro Judo Club, held a summer street Games event that was sponsored and organised by, the Jack Petchey Foundation, and London Youth.

The event was organised to give many young judo players in South London an event to help make up for the last-minute cancellation of this year’s London youth games in June

Over 40 young people, coaches, parents, and guardians attended the event that ran from 9:30 am to 2 pm

The lead coach for the event was Metro's own Aceyla Toprak who won a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, in August.

The event was also used, to present the chairman of the club, Paul Murphy with a Lifetime Achievement award, from the Royal Borough of Greenwich.

The presentation was made, by the Mayor of Royal Greenwich

Leo Fletcher and Mayor's Consort, Jacqui Power. They took the time to talk and have photos taken with players, coaches, parents, and guardians.

A massive well done to all those involved!

The Javan Coker Foundation partnership visit

Last week Young Greenwich Partnership Manager Matt Horne paid a visit to the Javan Coker Foundation session. They aim to support children and young adults with disability and special needs whilst also providing support to their families, friends, and/or carers.

The Safe Space for SEND session was filled with interactive and engaging activities for young people to take part in as well as educational support for them to catch up on their homework.

Matt expressed that "This was a great opportunity for us to see the great work that the Javan Coker Foundation provides in the borough. I had the chance to speak to some young people and you can truly see the impact this organisation has on them. A great job to all the staff for their consistent efforts, we are proud to have you as partners of young Greenwich"
