Scouts explore the outdoors

The Royal Greenwich Sea Scouts recently joined up with the Woolwich Scouts to take part in an activity camp at Frylands Wood Scout Outdoor Centre, in New Addington.

The camp was based on secret agents and those taking part chose names from James Bond movies and had to use radios to contact each other.

As part of the camp, young people took part in a number of team building pioneering projects including orienteering, canoeing and a night game, involving maps and co-ordinates to solve a puzzle.

Young people also had a go at airsoft shooting, which involved a team competition to see who could score the most.

Kevin, the Group Scout Leader, said, “The camp was hard work but it pays off when you see the young people enjoying themselves and having fun. Even though it was ridiculously wet and muddy we had fun playing games in and around the woods.”

Jake, aged 12, who attended the camp, added, “I really enjoyed the airsoft shooting and meeting new people and making new friends. It was a great experience and something I would definitely like to do again!”
