Wednesday 14th March 2018
Bringing all women and young girls together, Hawksmoor Youth Hub hosted its International Women’s Day event on Saturday 10th March 2018. The day was dedicated to inspire young women across the Royal Borough of Greenwich, offer local support and celebrate the movement.
There were fantastic activities available which were fun, exciting, and challenge the perspectives of women in society. From pop up-beauty stations to boxing sessions and the thrilling Formula 1 Racing Car Simulator, young people were able to get a variety of experiences in just one day.
Adding to all the excitement, there were free healthy meals available to all guests, free giveaways and a raffle prize which was won by previous Young Greenwich member from Woolwich Common youth hub, Casey.
Young people were able to feel empowered by poet/artist, Alfie who organised a poetry workshop for young people to express themselves on the topic. Attendees of the event also had the opportunity to get pampered with free massages, beauty therapy, nail art ad henna tattoos to give a relaxing touch to the day. Free blood pressure checks were also available on the day which were provided by the health team from Greenwich Get Active.
Unit Manager of Hawksmoor youth hub Claire said:
"What an amazing day, the Women who attended said the event made them feel special which gave them a confidence boost and a feeling of self-belief. The Event also showcased the local Women who have established their own Business and are a great inspiration to all Women."
