Recently participants from a Kickz session run by the Trust at Samuel Montagu Youth Club in Kidbrooke, were given the chance to go and see Charlton Athletic FC in action at The Valley.
The tickets were given out to the young people at Samuel Montagu Youth Club for their continued attendance and good behaviour.
Daniel Gill, London Social Inclusion Officer at the Trust, commented, ‘The aim is to ensure that the young people at our sessions in the Royal Borough of Greenwich engage in positive activity, such as sport, rather than turning to a life of crime and anti-social behaviour.
‘We gave the young people tickets as a reward, as they always demonstrate a positive attitude in and around the Youth Club and in the community.’
Abraham, aged 11, who has been attending the session in Kidbrooke and taking part in football and multi sport sessions for over three months, said, ‘It was exciting to go and watch a live game. I play for a Sunday team so it was good to watch the players that play in the same position as me. I learnt a lot from the game.’
Charlton fan Aaron, aged 14, who also attends sessions at Samuel Montagu, added, ‘It was a good game and I enjoyed the day as it was good to go and watch the match with my friends.
Engaging with the young people at Kickz sessions like Samuel Montagu allows the Trust the chance to develop relationships with the participants from sessions and within the local community.
