Go Karting in Charlton gets pulses racing

Tuesday 22nd November 2016

10 young people from Young Greenwich visited TeamSport go-karting in Charlton last Friday, 18th November.

Leaving Valley Central youth hub, they took the short walk to the track next to the Thames Barrier in Charlton.

After getting kitted out the karts were getting pushed to the max on the straights, and testing their cornering skills on a huge variety of bends on the 800m circuit.

After half an hour on the track, Aiden from Charlton was declared the winner with the fastest lap time of 48.2 seconds, leaving his closest opponents Jesse and Ramzy in the dust, both on 52.3 seconds.

The trip was funded with an award from the Jack Petchy Achievement Foundation. Ramzy Mbayo won the award for his work volunteering at Valley Central youth hub, in particular with the Extra Time group for pensioners, which runs on Wednesday mornings.

He decided to use the £250 winnings on the trip with other young people from the youth hub, in Charlton.

Commenting on the experience, Ramzy said “Go karting was too good. We all really enjoyed it and can’t wait to go again.”
