Greenwich Invitational to return in August

Tuesday 19th July 2016

Young Greenwich is delighted to announce the return of the ever-popular Greenwich Invitational football tournament in the first week of August.

Now in its ninth year, the free football tournament is open to all 10-19 years olds who live or study in Royal Greenwich. It’s a great opportunity to test football skills and win prizes, with PlayStation 4s, £250 Bluewater Vouchers and £20 JD Sports vouchers on offer.

This year the Greenwich Invitational is being sponsored by a variety of local organisations. These include Canary Wharf Construction and the Royal Borough of Greenwich.

600 young people participated last year, with the team ‘Prize Hunters’ [pictured] emerging victorious.

This tournament will be bigger and better, with a dedicated tournament for girls beginning this year.

Girls’ games take place every Wednesday in August from 6pm-8pm starting on the 3rd at Charlton Park, SE7 8RE.

Boys can attend on Tuesdays in August starting on the 2nd, from 6pm-8pm at Samuel Montagu Youth Centre, Kidbrooke, SE3 8ND or Fridays starting on the 5th August from 6pm-8pm at Sporting Club Thamesmead, SE28 8NJ.

Players can register for free in person at the first sessions.  Everyone is welcome to come. Squads are made up of eight players for the six-a-side tournament.
