Young Greenwich Gets Together with the Community

Monday 27th June 2016

Youth workers and young people from Young Greenwich visited the Great Get Together and Armed Forces Day Festival last Saturday, 25th June.

The community event was organised by the Royal Borough of Greenwich in conjunction with community organisations and businesses and was held at the Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich.

Young Greenwich put on Ultimate Frisbee and Badminton competitions for local people and signed up over 65 young people to the youth service.

Youth workers spoke to young people about the sessions that take place in youth hubs every day and special courses and events like the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and the upcoming Greenwich Invitational football competition.

David Martin, Youth Hub Manager at Valley in Charlton said: “It was great to see so many local people, come together to support a wonderful community event and let them know about the range of fantastic things Young Greenwich has to offer.”

“Look out for us at other community events over Royal Greenwich this summer.”
