Over the last 2 years, the Youth Service has given five young acts the chance to perform live on stage at the Indigo at the O2 alongside Olly Murs and Lawson in front of 2,600 screaming fans at the Trust’s annual charity concert.
With the recent announcement of Rixton headlining the 2015 charity event on July 9th, we are now on the hunt to find talented artists to add to the set, giving 2 more young people their break through opportunity in the industry.
Following the success of the last two competitions, Charlton Athletic Community Trust, who deliver the Youth Service, will be running Perform:2015, an exciting competition for young performers, aged 10-19, living in the Greenwich and Bexley boroughs. The top two winners at Perform:2015 will then be given the chance to open for Rixton and Autumn Sharif in front of a full house on July 9th.
Autumn Sharif, who won Perform:2014 and opened for Lawson last year, is not only one of the lead acts for the 2015 charity concert but also a judge for Perform:2015, having a say in who she performs with at the Indigo at the O2.
“I auditioned as a contestant last year and I wouldn’t have imagined that I’d be asked to be apart of the judging panel this year”, said the talented 19-year-old artist.
“A massive thank you to Charlton Athletic Community Trust for this opportunity and good luck to the contestants auditioning”.
Alongside Autumn on the judging panel is Capital Radio Breakfast host and the Trust’s Youth Service Ambassador Dave Berry who is looking forward to finding more talent in the area.
“Since we started the talent search three years ago, we have been blown away by the level of natural ability we have witnessed”, he said.
“I’m really looking forward to unearthing more and giving these people an incredible opportunity to perform on such a famous stage”.
The competition is open to bands or individuals aged 10-19, giving each entry the use of recording studios (if required) at different venues around Greenwich to record their chosen song.
