Hawksmoor Youth Club Hosted a Winter Family Fun Day in partnership with Trust Thamesmead and many other local community projects.
Trust Thamesmead wanted to encourage the local Thamesmead people to think about making changes in their life in order to lead healthier more active lives.
Coach Claire Hallinan was delighted with the day, “Hawksmoor had over 300 members of the community take part in the event. It was fabulous to work in partnership with Trust Thamesmead and so many other organisations.”
Activities and stalls offered advice and information about money management, health and well-being, training and education, jobs and employment.
Sarah who participated during the event took the advice and information to heart, “I have now signed up to ‘Now’s the Time’ and will be taking up more physical exercise at Sporting Club Thamesmead”.
While parents got information the children could ride on the land train, have their face painted, listen to story telling and take part in a wide range of sports, including bike riding, zumba, athletics and hurdles.
The overall feeling of the event was very positive, “These events should be more often”, said Penny Rockall, a local resident.
“My kids have had a fun day and I have spoken to lots of people some who live local but I have never spoken to before.”
