Young people, aged 10-12 at Hawksmoor Youth Centre in Thamesmead, took part in healthy cooking recently, putting together a chicken salad and fruit punch.
The session gave the group an opportunity to learn new skills, engage with other young people of their age and taste a range of healthy food.
The young people got their hands dirty, as they peeled, cut and prepared their dishes, working as part of a team.
There will be cooking sessions every Wednesday at Hawksmoor Youth Club, 4-6pm.
Sukhie Panesar, Youth Worker at Hawksmoor Youth Club, said, “I like to encourage young people and give them the opportunity to get involved and prepare and taste different foods that they have never eaten before. This was a really positive session and young people loved the taste and texture of the food.”
T Johnson, aged 10, who attended the session, added, “This cooking was really amazing and fun. The salad was the best ever.”
