Friday 24th August 2012

Are you aged 16-18 and looking for a career in football?  If the answer is yes, then the Trust’s Post 16 Football Academy may well be the place for you.

The Trust’s Post 16 Football Academy, run in partnership with SCL, reflects an ethos which combines the provision of sporting excellence with a full-time education programme.

The Academy will provide you with the following:

  • A chance to represent the Charlton Athletic Community Trust team
  • Professional Coaching by UEFA ‘A’ and ‘B’ Licence Coaches
  • Emphasis on Player Development
  • 2-year full time education and football programme
  • Level 2/3 BTEC, NVW and Diploma’s in Sport
  • Coaching Qualifications

The Football Academy is aimed at talented footballers aged between 16-18 and is a full-time 2-year Education and Football Development programme delivered in partnership with Professional and Non-League Football Clubs.

Where will the Academy be held?

The football and education will be delivered in one location at the CAFC Training Ground, Sparrows Lane, New Eltham, SE9 2JR. The venue has an excellent range of facilities including training and match pitches and the use of a designated classroom area.

All Academy players will receive daily training involving individual and team coaching from highly qualified FA coaches affiliated to the football club. Players will receive guidance on individual football fitness, nutritional advice and a regular appraisal to monitor each player’s development both on and off the pitch.

What are the costs?

Both the Football and Educational element of the Academy is fully funded and therefore there is no cost to join the programme. There will be a subsidised cost for purchasing training kit at the start of the season.
