Young Greenwich is teaming up with London Metropolitan University student Corina to design and build street furniture for the Moorings Summer Festival taking place in mid-August.
Finding alternative ways for young people to play an active role in communities, Corina says
“Too often, young people in particular are excluded from regeneration plans. This project tries to engage their natural curiosity, creativity and open-mindedness to give them a presence, to create a platform for young people's voices, as well as encourage them to develop a sense of civic pride.”
Alongside Corina who will be leading the project, 12-15 young people will have the fantastic opportunity to have their creative designs showcased at the festival and viewed by over 70 people.
Who’s it for?
Young people aged 13-19 who live or study in Royal Greenwich.
What types of street furniture?
Young people will have the opportunity to design a range of different furniture including seats, tables and stalls to be used in the local community for events.
