60 young people enjoy the incredible Complex Needs Summer programme

Monday 17th September 2018

“My favourite thing was going to Jump Giants”

In partnership with Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT), We Live Network (WLN) delivered this year’s Complex Needs Summer Programme over the course of four action-packed weeks. Running for the second year, this programme was available to young people aged 10-19 with complex needs.

From Monday 23 July to Friday 17 August, WLN delivered exciting social and enriching opportunities for young people from Shooters Hill College, Willow Dene School and various locations across London and Kent.

Kelly, one of the Young Greenwich members at WLN, said:

“The staff were really supportive and helped me a lot!”

The programme included a variety of local and offsite trips including Jump Giants, the London Zoo, the Greenwich Planetarium, the London Aquarium, Swanley Park, Eagle Heights, Thames Boat Cruise, Emirates Airline cable car, bowling, cinema trips and more.

During their set activities, the young people were able to choose what they wanted to take part in. Choices included PlayStation, sensory play, drama, sports, music, art, pool, table football, spa treatments, computers, trampolining, table tennis, mindfulness/relaxation and a film club.

Mathew Belson, Manager at We Live Network, said:

“This year was even better than the year before. More young people, more hours of fun each week, more exciting trips out in the community, higher levels of staff support and overwhelming and humbling parental feedback has blown us away. Thank you everyone involved in making this summer so memorable! Thank you also to CACT for a great partnership.”
